Contextual Technology Advertising Methods

Contextual Technology will automatically list an advertisement if the content of the page or even the area within a page matches that advertisement.

Usually uses a Pay per Clicks, PPC and Cost Per Click, CPC method to list your links on other sites which have a similar theme to the type of Keyword you wish to promote.

This method will usually highlight keywords, (automatically), on the web page if there is suitable content relating to the advertisement, (code has to be placed in to the web page to do this). Highlighting the words sometimes is done by underlining or by chaining the highlight background colour of the word on the web page. If the user move the mouse cursor over these highlighted keywords an extra information messages will be displayed allowing the users to follow a link to a website about that description.

Advice: Could be worth while. If you have the budget to pay for the extra visits. More Traffic to your site will cost more. You may not be able to have much control over which sites display your link. This method could prove beneficial if you are looking for higher levels of visitors to your site.

Your Traffic and rankings should not be the major aim it your website. Traffic does not put food on the table. Traffic may very well cost you more in bandwidth and other maintenance charges.  The quality of the Traffic you receive should be the main priority. This Visitors that result in more sales. It is better to receive visitors who are interested in your product than lots of visitors who may just have a passing curiosity.  For this reason think of Titles and Descriptions carefully that do not the lead to false visits?

Contextual technology advertising usually highlight keywords, (automatically), within your web page. As a users moves their mouse-pointer over the highlighted keywords a more detailed description will be displayed and this will allow the users to follow a link to a website if they are interested in that description. These pop-up description can sometimes distract from the main content of the website so contextual advertising should be used with care.

Could lead to some False Clicks because some users move their mouse-pointer over the text as they read it. Just as some users may use there finger to point at words they are reading with printed text. They may move there mouse pointer over the contextual link without wishing to actually find our more information about that word/s and this could register as a click. Triple underline method example move your mouse pointer over this Computer Hardware and Peripherals note how the extra information box appears, this could cause a hit which you would have to pay for if you use this method.

Also they may use Scanning which could effect the level's of click this method of advertising may produce.
