Copywriting, (also known as Ad Copy), is the art of writing sales and marketing related materials. Copywriting is used in sales letters, advertising, etc. to try to make a user take an action you require e.g. that will result in a increase in your sales or opt-in to newsletters etc....

Copyrighting is therefore here means the way a web site, or hard copy equivalent is laid out.

This includes the font type, font size and font color and images, etc. It includes the wording of the text. It also includes how and where images are laid out, where and how hyperlinks to other web sites are placed, etc... 

Copy could include use some, claimed to be, psychological wording to improve sales. For example using terms such as:-

When asked about a few images often used in advertising to elicit a reaction from viewers, two in five Americans (41%) say that given the options of “a puppy”, “a baby”, “a sweet old lady” and “a sweet old man”, a puppy is most likely to tug at their heart-strings when they see it in a commercial.

One-third say a baby (34%) is most likely to do so, while small percentages say a sweet old lady (3%) or a sweet old man (2%); 19% say none
