Google Slap, (applies to PPC Google AdWords), happens where you are well listed and are driving a good to high level of traffic to your web site. Then all of a sudden the number of visitors' to your web site from Google AdWords drops.
When checking your Google AdWords Account you find that ether Google are implying that your quality score is not high enough, (this would figure because the keywords your are paying for no longer generate enough visitors), and/or that Google suggest that you need to be paying a lot more for the keywords you are trying to use.
This could be because of the competitive bidding process used for Google AdWords and that now another web site owner is bidding more for the same keywords you are, this will get them listed higher than you reducing your visitors. If a number of other web site owners are bidding higher than you then you could understand why your quality score for Google AdWords has been reduced.
You could try increasing your Google AdWords Keywords bidding but your would have to be very careful that your Return On Investment does not suffer.
A possible solution is the make changes to your keywords to increase the click through rate and your Google AdWords Quality Score, but after a while you may just discover that these result in a future Google Slap.
You may have to constantly reappraise you keywords to try to increase the Google Quality Score and the levels of visitors you receive for your PPC Google AdWords.
What is 'Quality Score' and how is it calculated? The AdWords system calculates a 'Quality Score' for each of your keywords. It looks at a variety of factors to measure how relevant your keyword is to your ad text and to a user's search query. A keyword's Quality Score is frequently updated and is closely related to its performance. In general, a high Quality Score means that your keyword will trigger ads in a higher position and at a lower cost-per-click (CPC).
