You bid on the Keyword, Keyword Phrases that you wish to people to find your product or service under. When a user searches using for these Keywords they will see a listing and brief description of your site. You will only pay if that user decides to click on your description and follow the link to your actual site. Remember that the user has searched on Keywords that relate to your site and seen your description. This indicates that they have least have an interest in your products and service. Different amounts may be bid on different Keywords and large numbers of Keywords may be used, so long as they relate to you product or service.

You have should some of control over how high you wish to be listed for each Keyword, Keyword Phrases. You may start or stop at any time. Requires a non-refundable deposit. You will bid against other users for Keywords so the amount you pay for popular Keywords may be expensive, remember you will pay this every time someone follows your link. Some advertisers may make higher biding to try to discourage competition. Some sites advertise prices as low as 1cent, (US dollars), per click but because of  the biding process to be listed higher the realistic charges per click could be much higher e.g. $2.00 to $5.00 per click on popular keywords.

The more you bid the higher your listing. A high bid value could place you in the top positions for the PPC search engine web site. Some PPC engines also supply data to and receive Traffic from partner networks. A top positions on partner sites may require a high bid.  This could increase Traffic and charges substantially. Remember that the No.1 spot receives about three times to five the amount of traffic as the No.3 spot, and this would result in three to five times the charge.

Your Traffic and rankings should not be the major aim it your web site. Traffic does not put food on the table. Traffic may very well cost you more in bandwidth and other maintenance charges.

The quality of the Traffic you receive, conversion rate, should be the main priority. This Visitors that result in more sales. Advice: Could be beneficial for quick results but use with care and watch your budget. (Some links to PPC engines). Even major some search engines, including Google, use some form of this method. We recommend this method because of the level of control, (most PPC engines allow the option to change bidding amounts and Keywords at short notice). Could result in some Click Fraud. PPC can turn out to be very expensive because other users are bidding so high to also improve brand image. When submitting to pay-per-click search engines, it is important to keep in mind that you pay for every click-through. Therefore it is recommended that keywords, title and description relate to your site and the products or services you sell in order to avoid irrelevant clicks. You may also be charged for Test clicks when you may wish to test the link. PPC engines which receive Traffic from other site will increase the chances of your site being found but you will also be charged for clicks from these other sites. Using Popular Keywords could result in an extra-potential charge because these Popular Keywords generally have higher bids and therefore cost more per click as well as being click on more often, (because they are popular). Also Popular Keywords are more likely to be listed on the PPC partner sites generating even more clicks and a greater charge.  Start with smaller bids on less popular and fewer Keywords.

PPC usually defines which Landing Page the user views, (although other SEO techniques may also be used). This makes The Landing Page under your control and less under control of the users. They may only have the choice whether or not to follow a link to The Landing Page this is one thing that makes it different from other pages on your web site and The Home Page.

Note that any conversion rate could be as low as and 1 in 7, or 1 in 100. How often do you go to the shops a look without actually buying? Even when you are looking, Targeted, for that product. This could be very significant if you are using Pay per Clicks, PPC and Cost Per Click, CPC.

As stated watch out for Click Fraud. Maybe Affiliated Marketing, Pay Per Action, (pay commission on each sale) will be a better option, when you consider the budget being spent on No Sales.

PPC is a quick and controllable way to get your web site found but don't ignore search engine optimization.  A top natural listings position could get you more clickthroughs than a position in PPC. (Quite a few users tend to favour clicking un-paid listings). Also View Flat Fee Keyword.

Watch your Traffic Logs for signs of Click Fraud for example repeated clicks from on user and no purchases. Most search engines use special programming code to help prevent repeated erroneous clinks to prevent Click Fraud. Remember that some Traffic may be because of Test clicking by webmasters who list your site legitimately.

Use software to help for example find the best Keywords and Keyword phrases to bid on and PPC Bid Comparison Bid Manager such as that provided with Trellian SEO Toolkit. The SEO (Search Engine Optimization Toolkit includes everything you need to optimize and promote your web pages, to increase your web site traffic and search engine visibility.

Remember any expenses such as that incurred by Click Fraud should be compared with other forms of advertising such as leaflet drops where you may have very poor level of proof that the leaflets have been read and acted upon. Also some business expenses may be refunded by Tax.  You may also be able to ask for refunded for Click Fraud from the PPC search engine.

If you don't have a contract, you are free to reallocate budget elsewhere if you discover that the pay per click campaign is not providing the desired results.

Some Pay per Clicks, PPC and Cost Per Click, CPC search engines may also require you to make a Paid Inclusion to be placed in the search engine database before they allow you to use Pay Per Click with them.

Pay per click advertising are immediate. Organic Search Engine Optimization campaign may take up to three months or more for any results. It could be possible for the search engines to change their algorithms during this time which cold make your previous Organic Search Engine Optimization almost pointless. You may therefore need to revaluate your Organic Search Engine Optimization campaign and start again... This could end up in a very time, and expensive, circular, updating the site, finding that the search engines have changed, updating your site...

Pay per click campaign may produce results more quickly than an organic, search engine optimization campaign. Therefore if you are trying to achieve quicker results a pay per click campaign or trying to make new users aware of your products and services, increase your brand image or increase market share this method may worthwhile.

Pay Per Click may be useful if you have seasonal products and services.

If you decides that the pay per click campaign should be stopped the results end as well. Organic, search engine optimization campaigns are likely to provide visitors to your site for some time.

A price increase for pay for clicks could mean you would be running at a loss any have to stop your pay per click traffic until the prices come down, (if they ever do). This will reduce your traffic and supply of customers. Alternatively if the price you pay for clicks increases for your keywords, you could reconsider the PPC keywords you are using.

A number of PPC users state that it may be better not to be listed at the top, (position 1), for any PPC keywords and that other placements produce a better Return On Investment because these PPC keywords are less expensive and result in a more targeted audience leading to a higher conversion

Some users rate Organic Search Engine Optimization engine results as more relevant than paid results and are more likely to follow these links to a web site.

Conductor recently conducted a report regarding search trends and Fortune 500 companies. As Seth Dotterer of Conductor tells WebProNews, the company did the report to determine where it is that Fortune 500 companies are spending their money.

They found that these companies are spending a lot of money on paid search. Interestingly enough, they are not investing in natural search despite the many opportunities there.

In the report, Conductor looked at 6.7 million keywords and found that only 2 percent of the companies involved showed a significant percentage of keywords in the top 30 results. In other words, these companies are spending millions of dollars daily on PPC and yet only 2 percent showed up in the top 30 results.

Study after study indicates people are less likely to click on paid search ads and are more lightly to click on results from organic search engine optimization. For example, one study found that search users are up to six times more likely to click on the first few organic results than they are to choose any of the paid results while an eye tracking study showed that 50 percent of users begin their search by scanning the top organic results above The Fold. Other studies have shown that only 30 percent of search engine users click on paid listings, leaving an overwhelming 70 percent who are clicking the organic listings. A 2003 study found that 85 percent of searchers report clicking on paid links in less than 40 percent of all of their searches, and 78 percent of all respondents claim that they found the information they were searching for through sponsored links just 40 percent of the time.

If you are using PPC then provide a targeted landing page. This should reduce that number of clicks required before the user finds the page relating to the keyword in the PPC advertisement they have clicked on, (one click done already). This will help your web site follow the three click rule.

Using the incorrect Spelling and Grammar for keywords may result in some clicks at a lower price per click.

When using Keywords and Keyword phrases for Pay per Clicks, PPC and Cost Per Click, CPC, Split Testing is of particular importance. This is because of the bidding process you may continually need to tested and retested.
