User Generated Content. Advertising Methods

User Generated Content is where a user of your web site are allowed to publishes there own items. These could be: Video's, (as with YouTube®), day to day events in peoples lives such as with Twitter®, (social bookmarking), forums, allowing the posting comments' to your web sites, allowing press releases and publishing article releasesblogs, etc. their your web site help improve their Google PageRank® which is one reason they would be willing to submit items to your web site.

Allowing User Generated Content on your web site could increase new and relative content on your that web site that could in turn improves visitors to that web site which could in turn increase comments. This could increase in a viral marketing way.

Advice: Could be beneficial helping to increase visitors. Some care will have to be taken to reduce the possibilities of anyone just posting to spam their web sites and other issues some of which could cause you legal issues, users committing libel, etc. This is one way to improve usually new Unique and Original relative Content on your web site. This User Generated Content could also be posted elsewhere resulting in Duplicate Content issues.

NOTE: Google launched a clean-up after users urged stronger action against so-called content farms, which rely on armies of low-paid freelancers to crank out stories and videos designed to appear higher on search engine results.

Using UGC is one way to add content to your web site without you actually having to add more content yourself.

There could be a Catch 22 in that without the contributors you are unlikely to generate any visitors and without visitors you are unlikely to have contributors.

As the site becomes more popular the more likely it could be that is is subjected to Web site Submission Spam and Duplicate Content. This could have a negative impact on things like Goggle Page Rank®

There could be legal issues if you do generate enough visitors to be able to sell your service to anyone else a legal, (even with disclaimers where used), could result. The contributors may believe they are entitled to a percentage of any sale because thy may feel they have made the site successfully and wroth any sale.

Who Owns Contributers' Content?

If your site uses User Generated Content you make have to be increasingly careful not to contain Duplicate Content or to become a Content Farm.

Carry out Split Testing to test the effectiveness of advertisements.

Use code and people to reduce the chances of things like Splog. Splogging

Video sites and Blogs are classic UGC, (User Generated Content), sites where users post information or content to those sites.
