Viral Traffic Advertising Methods

Using any method that encourages people to pass details of your website, products and services. This strategy has resulted in exponential growth for some websites, (although this is quite rare). One person tells 2 people, those 2 tell 4, those 4 tell 16 and so on; growing extremely rapidly.

This is not the same as computer virus that could cause problems. Viral Traffic generally isn't harmful because it is not this type of computer virus.

Viral Traffic gets passed from computer to computer without any effort from the creator. Users share you website details or email attachment with other users without your involvement.

For example, one type of "traffic virus" is a website postcard system. Another type is to use Adverts which are are likely to be passed on. For example; Unusual items or different ways of looking at a item also Humour, Satire  or other methods could be used , Sa Many web sites have installed a free postcard system so their users can send postcards to friends and family. They pick a picture, choose an audio presentation, write a short note, and then email it to their friends.

One key to the Viral Traffic is to make it very easy for people to actively be involved in it and pass it on to their friends. They in turn pass it on to there friends resulting in you Advert being vied by a lot of people.

Claiming to offer payment, or other rewards to people who pass on the information. Offering rewards, especially payments, could be classed as an illegal Pyramid scheme. Could involve a lot more work than implied. A few people to join under you because you will earn a % of the traffic they send or others under them send. If you join the programs and then send a few people to join under you, you could easily have a clamed 100,000+ page views of your web page EVERY WEEK or even EVERY DAY the more people you have join under you the better you will do!!

Advice: Could be beneficial but think carefully about any negative impact. Will only work if you have the time to and ability to convince other to pass on your information or join. It could be very time consuming. Could be only short lived, i.e. a website about a particular major news event. A Viral Advert may circulate for a very long time, (many years), this may sound good but consider how your advert may be interpreted by people in the future. We cannot recommend method involving payment. Pyramid scheme could be illegal.

Of course you don't want to have people spreading bad information about your service as a virus so be careful to keep a good reputation.

Generally Viral Traffic is passed on by choice, because users find your item funny or informative for instance. This is more likely to make it more acceptable and therefore likely to pass it on to even more people.

Pyramid scheme tend to involve, (not recommended), some type of payment. This is likely to make it less acceptable and therefore not likely to pass it on.

		A typical Pyramid, (Viral method), would class you at the top, with other users below you. Each of these users would then have other users below them. It is said that each of these users will provide traffic to your website.
It is said that most people know at least ten people. If each of these passes the item on, each of these has about ten friends to pass the item on to and so on... In practice this is not very likely.
