Wiki's are concise, detailed information about a topic that other users with internet access can add to. A collaborative Web site comprises the perpetual collective work of many authors.
Wiki's are similar to blogs in structure and logic but in contrast to a blog Wiki's are typically authored by an individual. Wiki's do not allow visitors to modify the original posted material only allowing them to add comments to the original content similar to a forum.
Wiki's allow edit Web page content using any Web browser. Wiki supports hyperlinks and has a syntax for creating new pages and crosslinks between internal pages on the fly.
Wiki wiki means “quick” in Hawaiian.
Advice: Do not use a Wiki to try to promote your own products and services. A Wiki is not like writing an article or press release. Wiki's are concise, detailed information about a topic that ANYONE can add to. If you use acronyms or slang provide a detailed description including fully detailed descriptions of any acronyms or slang used including there history of that archnomis/slang.
Remember you may get feedback that may contradicts what you are posting to the Wiki, do not get in to arguments but respect other users opinion.
Make everything easy to understand to a complete novice. Assume no knowledge of the subject by the reader.
One of the more well known Wiki's is Wikipedia. This is a free encyclopedia medium which can be edited by anyone with access to it, and provides an easy method for linking from one page to another.
