Bad Neighbourhood Checking. Find Bad Neighbourhood

A bad Neighbourhood is a link to or from a website which may use, (what have become known as), Black Hat techniques' to try to promote their websites or websites which may be classed as offensive.

These links are only to be used as a guide and not as a definitive indication of which sites to link to or to be linked from or which are to be actually classed as being a bad Neighbourhood.

The Block List Checker tool allows you to query a number of spam-block and server boycott lists with an IP address you specify to try and ascertain if the IP address is listed as a known spammer or an open mail relay. This can be useful if you need to check the authenticity of logs or emails.

Blacklist Checker. This test will check a mail server IP address against 147 DNS based email blacklists. (Commonly called Realtime blacklist, DNSBL or RBL).  If your mail server has been blacklisted, some email you send may not be delivered.  Email blacklists are a common way of reducing spam.

Text Link Checker Tool This tool will scan the links on your website, and on the pages that your website is linking to, and flag possible problem areas.

Majestic-SEO : Research : Bad neighbourhood checker. Are you hosting or planning to host your site in a bad neighbourhood? It might be very difficult to determine if that's the case, but our free tool might just help you: it will show the most backlinked (by referring domains) domains hosted on any given IP or subnet. Visually inspecting those domains can help you determine if the most popular sites on that IP are spammy and thus potentially dangerous neighbours to have for valid sites hosted on the same IP or even subnet.

myIPneighbors IP search is a great way to find out who your neighbours are or just to see how many other websites your hosting company hosts your server. Is your website packed into a crowded host with hundreds of other sites? Or is there questionable content being hosted side by side with your site? If so, it may be time to look for a better host :-

Check for Bad Neighbourhoods sites
There is a handy little too at Google for checking the recent history on domains which is well worth using when link building (link exchanges, link drops) as well as checking websites you may be linking out to within your content or blog posts, (Just does provides basic report on the website) :-

Blacklist Check. Check to see if your IP addresses are listed with nearly 70 DNS based anti-spam databases! Will your mail server be blocked by DNSbl filters? Provided by What is my IP address Domain Name System Blacklists, also known as DNSBL's or DNS Blacklists, are spam blocking lists that allow a website administrator to block messages from specific systems that have a history of sending spam. As their name implies, the lists are based on the Internet's Domain Name System, which converts complicated, numerical IP address such as 140.239.191.10 into domain names like example.net, making the lists much easier to read, use, and search. If the maintainer of a DNS Blacklist has in the past received spam of any kind from a specific domain name, that server would be "blacklisted" and all messages sent from it would be either flagged or rejected from all sites that use that specific list.

Some search engines may base ranking, etc on whether or not they are within the same IP Range as other domains that link to them.

Class C Checker Tool allows you to check if some sites are hosted on the same Class C IP Range.

This Class C Checker may be used in these cases:

  1. You own several cross-linked sites: it may be more efficient (for SEO purposes) to host them on different Class C IP ranges (this is only an advice, not a must do)
  2. You're going to get new links from different sites check if they share the same class C IP range

There is sometimes more benefit in having links from different hosting DNS addresses.  C Class Backlink Analyzer. This tool investigates the links pointing to a web site (backlinks), and groups them according to the C-Class IP addresses they come from. For example, if one backlink comes from 53.25.14.5 and another comes from 53.25.14.6, they would be grouped together. Backlinks coming from the same C-Class IP are most likely hosted by the same company, which may lower the site's search engine ranking. Provided by We build pages.
