The sending of Packets of Data.  Each Data Packet will be different data sizes to suit bandwidth of each transmission method. For example telephone, dial up, has smaller data size because of slower bandwidth.

Once all the Data Packets have been received by the server they may be sent on by a similar methods. The final destination will reconstruct the Data Packets into the correct order for use by the user.

This is and extension of how web pages are sent now.

The main difference would be that different devices device would be used to transmit data at the same time.
