Mobile Phones have advances a great deal, even since WAP, WML, Wireless Markup Language.

The speed of data flow has increased and the quality of displays have improved.

Mobile phones can and do include a lot more these days.

They could have GPS, (Global Positioning Systems), to sense where they are, (and display advertisement relative to the geographic position of the phone).

Mobile Phone may have sensors to tell there orientation, (held vertical, horizontally or even at a different angle), and display advertisements could change relative to the angle of the phone.

They may have inbuilt accelerometer to sense movement and speed which could be used.

With in-built cameras it may be possible for a Mobile Phone code to detect the face of a person using it, (is it the owner or someone else?), and display relevant messages for that person.

This can make Mobile Phones more dynamic.

Senseye - Eye control for mobile devices

Senseye software allows users to interact with their mobile device using their eye movements.

The add-on uses a simple webcam and a set of infrared LEDs. The Senseye software records the eyes and calculates the point of the screen where the user is looking.

The hardware can be integrated into a device by using the front-facing camera and a built-in infrared LED.

The image captured by the front-facing camera of the smartphone or tablet is analyzed using computer-vision algorithms. Our software can then determine the location of the eyes and estimate where you're looking on the screen with an accuracy good enough to know which icon you're looking at.

The version showcased in the video uses the "EyeDock", an add-on with an inexpensive webcam and an infrared LED. These are standard components and can be integrated into a mobile device using the front-facing camera and a built-in LED.

We're now establishing connections and partnerships with mobile manufacturers and carriers to bring this technology to the market. The first device with the Senseye software is expected to hit the market in 2013.

Easy magic tricks for iPhone! "touch Trix"

iPhone Magic -SpinSpin
iPhone App iMicroscope Lets You Be The Scientist You Always Wished You Were

So you always wanted to be a scientist...except you aren't. Never fear! The iMicroscope iPhone app is here. When used with a microscope (surely you've got one of those kicking around?) you can take ultra-precise scientific photos.

Whatever you put on the microscope slide—my hot tip is a slice of watermelon, or a strand of hair—you'll be able to see just fine through the viewfinder of the device. But what if you want a photo of it in all its magnified glory? You download iMicroscope (for $2.99) and take a photo down the eye of the viewfinder, with the app then requiring you to insert the level of magnification you were looking at, for example 40x.

After that, the image is displayed, letting you zoom in and out, with a scale bar down the bottom for reference. You can email the image, or save it to your camera roll—and when you go back to it later, it will auto-format to the magnification you last viewed it in.

iPhone Trick is a way to mess with someone else's iPhone or use your own to pull a prank.

The Top 30 Android Apps And Games Of 2011 A divided list of the best 30 Android apps into four distinct categories. The top ten apps come from third-party developers, and, if not exclusive to Android, were created primarily for the platform. Additional sections include the best new or significantly updated apps from Google, as well as the best apps and games that appeared first on iOS but later arrived to Android in 2011.

Best Of Android Apps 2011 Over the course of 2011, the Android Market has exploded with growth. The Market has reached over 10 Billion downloads and is gaining momentum by the day. Because of all the growth in for the Android OS, it can be difficult to find the most best applications for your needs. Below is a list of the most heavily downloaded applications in 2011.

The Internet of Things, (Wikipedia). Refers to uniquely identifiable objects (things) and their virtual representations in an Internet-like structure. The term Internet of Things was first used by Kevin Ashton in 1999. The concept of the Internet of Things first became popular through the Auto-ID Center and related market analysts publications. Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is often seen as a prerequisite for the Internet of Things. If all objects of daily life were equipped with radio tags, they could be identified and inventoried by computers. However, unique identification of things may be achieved through other means such as barcodes or 2D-codes as well. With all objects in the world equipped with minuscule identifying devices, daily life on Earth would undergo a transformation. Companies would not run out of stock or waste products, as involved parties would know which products are required and consumed. Mislaid and stolen items would be easily tracked and located, as would the people who use them. Your ability to interact with objects could be altered remotely based on your current status and existing user agreements. Also see QR Codes and Barcode Links

Internet of Things, (IoT). There’s a lot of buzz about the “Internet of Things” (IoT) lately, and for good reason. Ericsson CEO Hans Vestberg estimates 50 billion devices will be connected to the Web by 2020 Taking The World With You Driving Moble Boardband (PDF format). To put this number in perspective, right now there are about 1.5 billion Web-connected PCs and fewer than 1 billion Web-connected phones—50 billion is about seven devices for every human being on the planet! Market research firm IDC in turn estimates that more than 16 billion devices will be connected to the Internet by 2015

iPhone App Video Review: Acme Planetary Defense
Wed, 16 May 2012 09:26:00 -0500 - Your job is to defend your tiny planet from an alien onslaught, including asteroids, mutant blobs, and the occasional flying saucer. You do this by launching missiles while rotating around the planet a full 360 degrees. After each wave, you'll spend whatever money you've earned to bolster your defenses, buying and upgrading weapons and defensive systems. These extra weapons and defenses will randomly spawn above the planet in great big crates, which you shoot to activate. Waves seemingly go on endlessly, and by reaching certain wave numbers, you'll unlock the harder difficulty planets. The premise is nice and simple and there are a lot of upgrading options, though the game isn't quite as deep as it appears.

iPhone App Video Review: N.O.V.A. 3
Mon, 14 May 2012 15:04:00 -0500 - The multiplayer mode has also been polished up, although it isn’t without some tarnish itself. Any fans of iPhone shooters should definitely pick this one up A.S.A.P. The story is more epic than ever, involving a galaxy wide hunt for ancient Judger artifacts, a.k.a. the McGuffins of this title. The campaign will have you battling on various planets, including a war-torn Earth, and epic locales like a derelict ship that’s drifting directly into a star. The plot even takes a few cues from Halo 3, and there are a few surprises. The only flaw with the campaign is in certain awkward segments, such as the on-rails sections involving a hard to aim turret and barely visible targets. The whole thing resolves itself thanks to auto-aim.

Sat, 12 May 2012 13:07:00 -0500 - The game premiered on consoles as a launch title with the beloved Dreamcast, and has since been ported to the Xbox LIVE Arcade, and now your iOS device! Sat, 12 May 2012 08:00:00 -0500 - It’s happened to Greg Oden and Kanye West. Women aren’t immune either, because it’s happened to Scarlett Johannsen and that girl from HBO’s Girls, too. It’s probably even happened to someone you know personally. If it isn’t an epidemic yet, it may very well be headed that way.
How might iOS 6 impact existing apps?
Fri, 11 May 2012 18:10:00 -0500 - The latest Apple rumor in anticipation of next month’s Worldwide Developers Conference does not (necessarily) revolve around the release of a new device. It is more mapped to the inside of the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

iPad App Video Review: Tentacle Wars HD
Fri, 11 May 2012 10:54:00 -0500 - Like Galcon or Eufloria, this game is like a real time strategy title in which you take over all the circles on the screen. In this case, the circles represent microscopic organisms in an alien creature’s immune system, and it’s your job to ensure that the bad virus forms are totally eradicated. You do this by sending out tentacles to infect them. Each organism has a life-force number, and basically, the one with the bigger number will win in a one on one fight. However, you can also cut tentacles at different points to send all the life force to an enemy, or back to their source. The strategy comes in knowing which organism to infect when, and outmaneuvering your opponent.

iPad App Video Review: Draw Something by OMGPOP
Sun, 06 May 2012 13:05:00 -0500 - You can play this game with random strangers or with friends and contacts from your Facebook and Email accounts. The game is cross platform, so you don’t all need to be on iDevices. Once you challenge someone to a game, you choose between three words of varying difficulty, and must then draw the word for your partner. Higher difficulty words will result in greater rewards, but they’re often more abstract or complex. When you’re done, your partner must then guess what your word is while watching a live, real time recreation of your exact drawing process. This is made easier by the fact that you are given very specific letters with which to spell your answer, so you can use those as a clue. Once they guess or fail to guess your word, they go back to step one and do the same for you.

iPad App Video Review: Spotify
Fri, 04 May 2012 07:17:00 -0500 - The first notable thing that some people will take issue with is that Facebook is required to access the app and create an account. Regardless of your feelings on that, the process itself is a real pain. It can freeze while an account is being created, and the Facebook page I was taken to was not even in the right language. Once you have your account ready to go, the app really opens up. You can search from a library of millions of songs, at least as good as the iTunes library, or you can look at what’s new and hot and hip and fresh, or whatever.

Bravo Force: Last Stand offers variety and quick-fire action
Thu, 03 May 2012 14:30:00 -0500 - I really didn’t think you could create a great game experience on the iPhone built around the Time Crisis “light gun shooter” model. Not that I thought it was impossible exactly, but there was something that just didn’t feel great about tapping directly on enemies to shoot them in this sort of game. Played on a TV, it’s the ideal arcade gaming experience, but if you have to cover up a portion of the screen with your finger to make anything happen, the experience gets old fast.

iPhone App Video Review: Spellsword
Wed, 02 May 2012 15:48:00 -0500 - Instead of picking up crates and getting different guns as in Super Crate Box, you have one single sword and pick up different magic cards that endow you with all kinds of fun elemental powers, from launching fireballs, poisoning every enemy on the screen, launching magic wind blades with every swing of your sword, and many more. These effects are, however, quite temporary. All kinds of enemies requiring different tactics will enter the battle arena, and if you aren’t consistently moving and picking up new cards, you won’t last very long at all. The game is split into two modes as well. The mission mode asks you to grind through specific challenges, while the endless mode is more like the standard Super Crate Box gameplay. As you proceed through the missions and maps, new spell cards will be introduced along with new enemies.

iPhone App Video Review: Ski Safari
Mon, 30 Apr 2012 14:14:00 -0500 - Ski Safari is wonderfully absurd. After an avalanche hits your mountain cabin and sends you careening downhill in your bed, your adventure begins. I guess this character sleeps with his skis on, and it doesn’t take long to switch over. You simply have to keep up enough speed to outrun this massive avalanche. What makes it all so much fun is the various animals and other things you’ll be interacting with; whether you’re using a penguin as your skis, riding on the back of a big Yeti, soaring through the sky under the grip of an eagle, or blasting downward in a snowmobile. You can even taxi smaller creatures on the bigger ones, and there are plenty of tricks and combos to pull off, including gliding on clouds.

Freemium iPhone games are still out there
Mon, 30 Apr 2012 08:00:00 -0500 - Remember the story about the parents who were suing Apple because of charges they incurred when their kids started downloading a bunch of freemium content onto their iDevices? I had actually forgotten about it, myself. Apple won’t be so lucky, as their attempt to have the case dismissed was recently rejected by California courts.

Our other top apps for this week aren’t cloud related, but they’re all unique in their own right.
Fresh iPhone Apps for Apr. 30: Catchbook, nēvus, Polymer, Knights Arena
Mon, 30 Apr 2012 07:10:00 -0500 - Spring’s upon us, and so many of us are getting ready to start planning fishing trips. You’ll want to check out Catchbook: Photo Fishing Reports on today’s Fresh iPhone Apps list if you planning on doing some fishing this year. It lets you take and share photos of your catches and track patterns in your favorite spots to predict where fish are biting. But you shouldn’t spend too much time in the sun, which is where nevus, a skin-care app, can come in handy. It helps you track your sun exposure and keep an eye on worrisome moles. Puzzler Polymer kicks off the week’s game selections, followed by medieval tournament title Knights Arena, in which you’ll learn to shoot arrows from horseback and hone swordsmanship skills.
Podbay iPhone app feels a little too simple
Sun, 29 Apr 2012 18:30:00 -0500 - Podbay feels more like a concept than an actual app. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing might just depend on your perspective. It seems like any app released at this point, generations past the first iPhone, is expected to come packed with specific features “or else.” Apps without Facebook or Twitter connectivity are shunned. Apps lacking some sort of multimedia component are mocked.
Klout stays visible with app’s badge
Sun, 29 Apr 2012 16:00:00 -0500 - Let’s be honest. The only reason I ever visit Klout is because I like free stuff and sometimes the perks are worth loading the site. Because of my penchant for perks I was excited to see that there was finally an official app for iPhone and iPod Touch, Klout for iPhone.
iPad App Video Review: Incoboto
Sat, 28 Apr 2012 14:19:00 -0500 - You play as Inco, a lone boy in a universe of darkness. All of the suns seem to have gone out, except for one childlike sun named Helios. By collecting various little star pieces and feeding them to Helios, he’ll build up enough energy to open the sun-gates and teleport each of you to a new cluster of planets. These planets are full of machinery and messages left behind by The Corporation, a mysterious group who seems to be behind all of this death and destruction. Hopefully, you can eventually uncover the mystery and light up the galaxy once more.
Inquiring minds can now get their National Enquirer gossip fix on iPad
Sat, 28 Apr 2012 08:00:00 -0500 - Admit it. You’ve sneaked glances at The National Enquirer as you’ve waited in line to pay for groceries at the store. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, we’ve all be pulled in by headlines like “Mother delivers three-headed conjoined alien twins” and wanted to peek. In fact, those furtive glances seem far less voyeuristic than those used in the age of TMZ, Perez Hilton and the 24-hour news cycle that becomes more tabloid by the day.
As Apple gets closer to full TV offering, watch these apps right now
Fri, 27 Apr 2012 16:50:00 -0500 - There are more indications that Apple is getting ready to transition out of its TV “hobby” and offer a fully operational television set later this year. Perhaps as soon as June’s Worldwide Developers Conference.
iPhone App Video Review: Sid Meier’s Pirates!
Fri, 27 Apr 2012 15:35:00 -0500 - I should note that this is a port of the 2004 version, though a game of the same name was also released in the eighties.  The game is full of locations to explore, cities to visit, sword duels to fight, and passing ships to plunder. Some aspects might feel a bit dated, and it can be rather buggy, but none of it is major and none of it ruins the experience.
Bearish Apple analysts follow long line of app doubters
Fri, 27 Apr 2012 11:27:00 -0500 - Wall Street analysts who foolishly downgraded Apple before another monstrous earnings report this week are not the only ones who should eat a little crow.

iPhone App Video Review: Burger Cat
Thu, 26 Apr 2012 15:08:00 -0500 - After adding some nitroglycerin to his burgers at a barbecue, things go boom and the burgers are scattered all over the place, and it’s up to you to help the silly kitty get his burgers back. You do this by placing tiles of earth or taking them away, while also using springs, mouse toys, umbrellas, dog bones, dynamite, and more to help him avoid danger and hazards. The puzzles themselves are really quite easy, without many real brain busters thrown into the mix. Despite that, the puzzles are still very challenging for entirely different reasons; namely, the controls.
Hambo iPhone game sizzles with fun
Thu, 26 Apr 2012 14:30:00 -0500 - Hambo, aside from having an absolutely fantastic name, also does gaming history a great service by displaying the debt that many titles owe to strategy games like the Worms series. Also it’s pretty fun, so that helps, too.

The only problem for us here in North America is that there’s no-one on this side of the ocean using the service.
iPad App Video Review: Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective
Thu, 26 Apr 2012 11:48:00 -0500 - You play as the ghost of a recently deceased man. He wakes up in a junkyard with no memory of his life and witnesses his killer hold an unknown girl at gunpoint. He quickly learns that he isn't just any random dead person. He has special Ghost Trick powers, which allow him to possess and tamper with inanimate objects, talk to other dead spirits, and time travel to four minutes before any persons death in an attempt to alter their unfortunate fate. Of course, this is all explained to you by a possessed desk lamp who knows much more than he's letting on.
Untap more from LinkedIn on the iPad

Sprint’s unlimited data plans don’t seem to attract many iPhone customers
Thu, 26 Apr 2012 07:39:00 -0500 - Cellular carrier Sprint was late to the party in terms of picking up Apple’s iPhone, but the No. 3 carrier in the U.S. had an ace up its sleeve when it started carrying the iPhone 4S last year: unlimited data plans.

Here’s how today’s app boom differs from the dot-com era, says the iFund’s Matt Murphy
Wed, 25 Apr 2012 15:58:00 -0500 - When pre-revenue startups with less than 15 employees like Instagram have 10-figure exits in less than two years, it’s reasonable to ponder how today’s app economy compares to the dot-comedy of the late nineties.
iPhone App Video Review: Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Wed, 25 Apr 2012 15:00:00 -0500 - I haven’t really played this game since I was a kid with a functional Dreamcast and a nearby arcade, but I booted up my Xbox LIVE Arcade edition for the sake of comparison. With this title, Capcom gives us a straight port of the original Dreamcast version. The newer versions should have been their aim, in my opinion. Maybe some purists will prefer it this way, though. All the main modes are present, from Arcade and Score Attack to Training and even a Bluetooth VS Mode. You have to earn arbitrary points for playing and doing well to unlock the art gallery and alternate characters. It’s a shame, because while that gives players something to aim for without online multiplayer, less than half of the total characters are initially available, and the clunky touch controls make unlocking everything a herculean effort.

Wed, 25 Apr 2012 13:37:00 -0500 - You no longer have to be sitting in front of a computer screen to obtain a systematic account of your online influence.

Make spring cleaning a breeze with these iPhone apps
Wed, 25 Apr 2012 09:00:00 -0500 - At its most basic level, spring cleaning is about eradicating the dirt that has crept into your house during months of snow-boot tromping and winter-coat flinging. But the mental exercise that comes with it shouldn’t be overlooked. The annual routine is an opportunity to de-clutter the brain as much as the foyer.

MyCityWay Now can help you do just that by highlighting all kinds of points of interest in a city, searching for things like restaurants, nightlife and other highlights. If a more nature-centric setting is more your style, grab National Parks by National Geographic, a guide to the nation’s parks that’s filled with photos, maps and other info. The well-loved fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 2 kicks off today’s games offerings by making the leap to iOS, followed by match-three puzzler Cubis Creatures, which adds a third dimension to the usual Bejeweled-style rules.
Crow iPhone game makes for a great adventure in flight
Tue, 24 Apr 2012 16:30:00 -0500 - An adventure game that leaves the player to their own devices, Crow seems destined to be a bit of a divisive gaming experience. It lacks the immediacy and urgency of the more popular arcade style iPhone games, and its truly fantastic visuals make it easy to dismiss it as a pretty face with no real gameplay behind it. But writing-off Crow like that would do it a huge disservice.
iPhone App Video Review: Lock ‘n’ Load
Tue, 24 Apr 2012 14:48:00 -0500 - You play as an old retiree who gets angry when the evil minions of a demonic little girl ruin your flower beds. You quickly throw on a hockey mask for some reason, grab your machine gun, and go to town on the evil, mostly because they’re hooligans that are making a commotion rather than because they’re demonic and evil. The game has some amusing writing, although I hate that I have to sit through each voice acting clip. I should really be allowed to skip from one bit of dialogue to the next instead of only being able to skip entire scenes.
Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP wins big at Canadian Videogame Awards
Tue, 24 Apr 2012 14:19:00 -0500 - Last year, iOS adventure title Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery EP hit the iTunes App Store to some very positive reviews as it spread its brand of music-based, low-story adventuring to the mobile sphere. Mixing a low-res, pixelated art style with a deliberately atmospheric but minimalist story presentation and a great soundtrack by Jim Guthrie, Sword & Sworcery captured the imagination of many.

iPhone apps to prepare for the NFL Draft
Tue, 24 Apr 2012 07:24:00 -0500 - Given the choice between watching a three-hour special on the unveiling of the new NFL schedule or endless talk about the impending NFL Draft beginning April 26th, I will gladly take draft talk until everyone is blue in the face. It looks like app developers agree, because while there aren’t too many mock schedule creation apps, there are an awful lot of draft apps out there. Here are a few of our favorites to get you ready for Thursday.

iPhone App Video Review: Infinity Blade II ClashMob
Mon, 23 Apr 2012 09:27:00 -0500 - The new multiplayer component is not what you would expect in the traditional sense. Essentially, new bosses and special tasks are uploaded each day, and everyone in the world does their part to help, all for special rewards and bonuses. This can take the form of multi-million health point bosses, with every player given a short time limit to dish out as much damage as they can. You can also be asked to kill one of several thousand enemies or to survive as long as you can against a powerful foe, adding your survival time to the pot.
iPhone App Video Review: Paper Monsters
Mon, 23 Apr 2012 09:12:00 -0500 - This game is clearly an homage to PS3 classic, Little Big Planet. Similar arts and crafts aesthetics, same end of level platforms, unlockable costumes for your little avatar dude, and even a similar introduction with a Stephen Fry sound-alike. The multi-layered levels and complex next generation mechanics are traded in for classic Super Mario Bros. style gameplay, with warp pipes, mouth gates, hidden areas and more. It may look like a modern game, but it's a golden oldie at heart.

Mon, 23 Apr 2012 07:20:00 -0500 - This week’s top apps list is headlined by a returning favorite. This week’s list features also features an app west coast sports fans will love, and apps for dreamers, cupcake lovers and fun-seekers.
The Daily Show Headlines is fine, but lacking original thought
Mon, 23 Apr 2012 06:00:00 -0500 - The Daily Show Headlines app offers a nice alternative to viewing the show “live” on Comedy Central, but its argument for being an essential piece of the viewing puzzle isn't quite as sound. The app is mostly a collection of clips from the show rather than supplemental material that would be interesting to people who are already fans. The app's home screen offers the past two weeks of The Daily Show clips for users to scroll through as

Try out these iPhone drawing apps before you go Draw Something
Sun, 22 Apr 2012 08:00:00 -0500 - I have a confession, Appolicious readers. I have not played Draw Something, and I don’t know if I ever will. I admit the idea is clever, but I really hate drawing. I’m not good at it all, and the idea of demonstrating how terrible I am at drawing to another person just doesn’t do it for me. But maybe there are others like me, who need to be coached into letting our inner terrible artist take over? Maybe these simpler drawing apps will help us out.

iPhone App Video Review: Crow
Fri, 20 Apr 2012 08:59:00 -0500 - Essentially, Crow borrows a lot of ideas and imagery from various mythologies. You play as the crow, and you're guided by a very old and clearly nefarious spirit. He sends you out to fight and sacrifice various spiritual guardians. There is, however, a spirit of benevolence that is trying to pull you away from evil, and whether you give in to the darkness or the light is your choice, as you can spare or sacrifice each guardian.
Did Instagram “jump the shark”? Apple’s Schiller sure thinks so
Fri, 20 Apr 2012 07:47:00 -0500 - Even though Instagram was named App of the Year by iTunes in 2011 (despite being released in 2010), at least one senior Apple executive has soured on the iconic photo-sharing application that was acquired for approximately $1 billion earlier this month by Facebook.

Lock ‘n’ Load tops iPhone Games of the Week
Fri, 20 Apr 2012 06:00:00 -0500 - I’m not usually much of a fan of twin-stick shooters on mobile devices because they mostly tend to feel like they’re all the same. But Lock ‘n’ Load, with its voice acting, horror tropes and goofy story, is pretty refreshing and it also manages to do a good job with dual-stick shooter mechanics, making for a hectic game with good controls that’s also pretty addicting. It leads this week’s best games, bringing in four other awesome titles players should definitely check out going into the weekend.

Expect it to move back into the top spot again soon; the new features are exactly what players were asking for, making an already fantastic game even better.

But it also saw the release of Food Network Cupcakes!, an iPad app brimming with cupcake recipes to help fuel your game binges. Once you’ve got your baking out of the way, it’s time to move onto games, starting with twin-stick shooter Lock ‘n’ Load, a beautiful 3-D title with lots of horror references and a goofy story. Illusia 2 successfully melds role-playing, platforming and action gameplay into one 16-bit package with an immersive story, and MacGuffin’s Curse manages to combine werewolves and comedy to make an effective puzzler with a fun story to work through.

iPhone App Video Review: On The Wind
Wed, 18 Apr 2012 14:51:00 -0500 - Basically, it looks like David played ThatGameCompany's PlayStation Network exclusive Flower and decided to make it 2D, and to replace flower petals with leaves. I have no problems with this, and think it's actually a really cool concept. In the game, you have to deal with dying leaves and the harsher seasons. After a certain amount of time, leaves will die and fall away from your group, and the slower you move, the faster that process is, so you can't take things very slowly and cautiously. You also lose leaves every time they touch the ground, which causes them to transform into flowers. Of course, in spring and summer, plenty of leaves cover the trees, but in autumn and winter, the game can get quite harsh.
iPhone App Video Review: Beat Hazard Ultra
Wed, 18 Apr 2012 14:21:00 -0500 - This is the same twin stick shooting that you all know and love or hate. Enemies and random junk will fly in from the sides, and it's your job to blast them away. What makes this game unique is that almost every single aspect has been tied into your music choice. The speed of the enemies, the intensity of your shooting, and the insanity of the visuals are all tied to the song currently playing, constantly in flux. As you drop enemy bogies left and right, they'll occasionally drop score multipliers, cash, bombs and other powerups, and the always important Power and Volume collectibles. Once you max out the power of your shot and the volume of your song, you'll enter Beat Hazard mode, where your attacks are at their most powerful.

iPhone App Video Review: Gun Runner
Tue, 17 Apr 2012 13:44:00 -0500 - Gun Runner doesn't offer much variation, is pretty buggy, and seems a tad unbalanced. It's still a fun release that shows great promise which could really use some fine tuning.

Play smartphone games on the wall

New Scientist Information

In 19th century Japan, a form of theatre known as Utsushi-e, which used light from lanterns to project stories and images onto rice paper screen, was hugely popular.

Now Disney has used this pre-cinema artform as its inspiration for a modern equivalent: a projector for your smartphone.

Many cellphone sold in Japan and Korea already have tiny "pico" projectors embedded in them -- handy for catching a film on your hotel room wall. Disney appears to be thinking ahead for western smartphones and is already developing game applications for such phones, which it will reveal for the first time at CHI 2011 conference.

Led by researcher Karl Willis and Ivan Poupyrev at the Disney Research labs in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the MotionBeam project explores the use of hand-held projectors to interact and control projected characters in games played as the images are thrown onto a wall.

One of the first Motion Beam games lets the user control a small yellow character which scampers across the wall collecting stars as it goes. The user guides the figures by gesturing with the handheld projector itself as if it was a torch, and interacting with the game as it is projected onto a white wall.

Secret codes for your Android phone Kind of like the hidden menu at In-N-Out (if you don’t know what that is, I’m sorry you’re so deprived), there are some nifty hidden codes that can be used to accomplish certain tasks on your Android phone. Some are not recommended because once you do (again, factory reset), they can not be undone.

Customize Every Aspect of Your Android Experience. One of the biggest advantages of Android’s open source roots is that users have complete control over pretty much every aspect of the operating system. If you don’t like any aspect of the stock Android experience, there’s a good chance that someone somewhere has already done something about it. If you own an Android phone that is not a Nexus (One or S), you have probably already experienced this. HTC’s Sense UI and Samsung’s TouchWiz are examples of phone manufacturers’ attempts to providing device-specific Android experiences.

Free Ringtone Maker Platinum is able to load many kinds of sound files. You may input the music stored in your local folder and also, you are allowed to load the tracks of an audio CD. Numerous popular audio formats are supported.

Find your way around in a world of virtual mirrors, (see round corners for car drivers)

Find your way around in a world of virtual mirrors

That's the thinking behind MirrorMap, an augmented reality system developed by Carmen Au and colleagues at McGill University in Montreal, Canada and presented at the Mobile HCI conference in Stockholm, Sweden last week. Hold up a smartphone running the MirrorMap app and you'll see video feeds from CCTV cameras in the area appear as "virtual mirrors" hanging in space. Professor James J. Clark

This maintains the spatial relationship between objects and it is easy for us to interpret the location of a reflected landmark, says Au, who compares it to a "rear-view mirror for pedestrians".

Of course GPS-equipped smartphones can help you get back on track without the app, but only if you know the name of your destination, and unfortunately Google doesn't yet recognise "that church with the tall spire" as a valid search term. Au suggests that MirrorMap could be incorporated with existing navigation aids, rather than replacing them all together.

Electronic Business With Mobile Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) (PDF Format) Master Thesis in Computer Science. (Covers mobile phone hardware, software and operating systems, etc...) ABSTRACT: Wireless network enabled mobile devices offer interesting possibilities for electronic commerce business. Most electronic commerce application require a desktop operating system in order to work properly. Today, only notebooks offer the processing power to run a desktop operating system, but they are limited in mobility by their size and power requirements. Personal Digital Agents could promise a solution, but they don’t offer the needed flexilibity and processing power, yet, in order to be used for electronic commerce applications on the Internet. This thesis tries to analyse how PDAs could help streamline the processes of electronic business applications with the help of three scenarios: one in the business-to-consumer market, one in the business-to-business market, and one in e-government. The goal of this thesis is to answer the following questions regarding mobile devices: What kind of applications will be possible in five years? Which technologies will gain momentum in the next five years? What functionality will PDAs offer in five years? In order to answer these questions, this thesis takes a look at current technologies and extrapolates them into the future.

The images are overlayed on top of the camera view and are displayed in real-time so that they are able to move in sequence as the camera is pointed at other objects. This can produce a more dynamitic involvement by the user and could be likened to the use of virtual reality, (VR). More Virtual Reality links.
