During the day, computer screens look goodthey're designed to look like the sun. But, at 9PM, 10PM, or 3AM, you probably shouldn't be looking at the sun.

LED Backlighting Article

There's been a significant growth in the monitor market when it comes to screens with LED backlighting. I wanted to provide an article which explains the technology in more detail as it is bound to become more and more widespread. The technology was originally quite expensive, but reduced production costs and improved manufacturing processes have allowed LED backlighting to be used in even the lower cost monitor market. We are now seeing an influx of new screens in all different sizes using LED backlighting, and it is also being combined with TN Fillm, VA and IPS panel technologies..........

Fix a stuck pixel on an LCD monitor

Fix a stuck pixel on an LCD monitor Fix those pesky stuck pixels in just a couple of minutes and enjoy a fully functional monitor.

This will only fix stuck pixels. Not dead pixels or hot pixels. A dead pixel is when the pixel is always off. It is easiest to spot a dead pixel against a white background. The pixel will appear to be non existent.

Fixing LCD Dead/Stuck Pixels
UD Pixel. Locate and fix LCD screens dead pixels  This program helps to locate and fix LCD screens dead pixels. You can fix the stuck pixels by calling them to do rapid changes. You need to run this program for a couple of hours. There is no warranty on the result, but you don't really have anything to lose trying it out. See below how to.
JScreenFix JScreenFix is a software solution that can fix stuck pixels, reduce screen burn-in and improve the quality of images displayed on a screen. A stuck pixel is a bright dot of colour most noticeable when the rest of the screen is black. Stuck pixels are fairly common on high resolution LCD screens. Stuck pixels sometimes start working again with time unless they appear black on a white background, these are known as dead pixels. See below how to.

What is a dead pixel?
  Get Dead Pixel Buddy

Dead Pixel Buddy Dead Pixel Buddy is a program that lets you detect dead pixels on monitors and LCD screens. An LCD screen is made of pixels. These pixels may somehow not show colours properly, be it because the pixel is either too bright or too dark. These pixels are called dead or defective pixels. Using Dead Pixel Buddy you'll be able to know exactly how many defective pixels exist in your LCD screen. Running this program is really simple. All you have to do is choose a colour and that colour will be shown in full screen, this way you'll be able to check if there's a pixel with more or less colour than normal.

Run this Stuck Pixel Remover Video a few times, (may have to be set to full screen do NOT watch while it is working), to remover most stuck pixels. May need to be run a few times to work. WARNING: DO NOT WATCH IF YOU SUFFER FROM SEIZURES OR HAVE A FAMILY HISTORY OF EPILEPSY. WARNING Contains strong flashing images.

ISO 13406-2 guidelines for pixel defects. LCD displays are made up of a set number of pixels and each pixel is made from 3 subpixels; one Red, one Blue and one Green. Every sub-pixel is addressed by its own transistor and so the manufacture of a glass substrate is very complex. Due o the nature of the manufacturing process, occasional defects can occur. Pixel defects or failures cannot be fixed or repaired and can happen at any stage in the LCD's life. To regulate the acceptability of defects and to protect the end user, ISO have created a standard for manufacturers to follow. ISO 13406-2 recommends how many defaults are acceptable in a display before it should be replaced, within the terms & conditions of warranty.  All reputable manufacturers conform to and support the ISO 13406-2 standard.
