(Pixel Encoding) A System of using a printed image, (example left), similar to bar codes which a Mobile
camera phone can scan in and link to a relevant WAP site. This saves the users having to type in WAP site addresses. It may be used for longer address which are difficult to type in correctly. (PDF414, Semacode, Datamatrix,
PixeCode.) (Shown much lager here)
This may seem complex -- and technically, it is -- but on
the surface it is a very simple system to use and learn. By connecting users
from physical media to mobile content, the system creates new affordances,
new ways to interact with the objects and media that surround us (including
augmented reality, remote presence, social software and location tagging).
In each field, be it marketing, tourism, games, etc., there are a number of
opportunities to use this technology to improve the way people interact and
communicate.
In addition, this is an open system. Anyone can create as many semacode
tags for as many different URLs as they wish. Millions, even. As long as you
own the domain name, the tagging system is completely unrestricted. Better
yet, all of the software tools are available freely for non-commercial use.
Therefore it is possible to build a complete system (for non-commercial
purposes) without restrictions. |

Explore a whole new way to window shop, with Google and your mobile
phone What if you could decide where to shop, eat or hang out, with a little help from local Google users? To scan the codes, you'll need a phone with a camera and an app that can read QR codes. For Android-powered devices, including the Droid by Motorola, we recommend using the free Barcode Scanner app. For iPhone, QuickMark app, to offer the app for free for the first 40,000 downloads. For other devices, we recommend searching for "QR reader" in your app marketplace, if it has one, or searching for the model of your phone and [qr reader] on Google. BeeTagg and NeoReader are two other apps that we've found to work well with the decals. Also view Maps and Travel. Route Planners. How to get there. Bus times, Train Times, Ferry times. Qurify. QR Code generator. Create your own QR Codes.
QR Codes are 2 dimensional barcodes that are easily scanned using any modern mobile phone. This code will then be converted (called "dequrified") into a piece of (interactive) text and/or link. For instance, you walk around in the city and notice a poster for an event that seems interesting. You take out your mobile phone, scan the QR Code and will instantly get more information and a link to a website where you can book your tickets. You don't have to type or remember anything and because QR Codes can be very small, this saves a lot of space on the product as well. |

Branded QR codes increase visibility, recognition and scan rates. A great tool for mobile marketing and sales campaigns.
Here is an example, this may not work as it has not been tested and may not be the best achievable and is therefore only an example:- |

Bokode A system takes a good bit of mathematics and a healthy enthusiasm for optics. It conveys its secret information to anyone who knows the trick. The material MIT published, and frankly there is quite a bit, and thought finding a low tech way to play and spread the technology around would be pretty fun. The Camera Culture group presents Bokodes, tiny imperceptible barcodes that can be read by a standard camera positioned up to four meters away to decode identity, and six-degree-of-freedom pose (angle and distance). Bokode Wikipedia A camera based interaction solution where an ordinary camera can detect small optical tags from a relatively large distance. Current optical tags, such as barcodes, must be read within a short range and the codes occupy valuable physical space on products. We present a new low-cost optical design so that the tags can be shrunk to 3mm visible diameter, and unmodified ordinary cameras several meters away can be set up to decode the identity plus the relative distance and angle. The design exploits the bokeh effect of ordinary cameras lenses, which maps rays exiting from an out of focus scene point into a disk like blur on the camera sensor. This bokeh-code or Bokode is a barcode design with a simple lenslet over the pattern. We show that an off-the-shelf camera can capture Bokode features of 2.5 microns from a distance of over 4 meters. We use intelligent binary coding to estimate the relative distance and angle to the camera, and show potential for applications in augmented reality and motion capture. We analyze the constraints and performance of the optical system, and discuss several plausible application scenarios. |

The Barcode Update You Never Asked For, But Still Need Dubbed the Bokode, the system uses a clever focusing technique that allows a small beam of light to hold a wealth of easily accessible information. Bokodes are based on the "bokeh effect" in photography, where light blurs into a round blob as a lens focuses to infinity. The LED in the center of the image above is actually projecting a series of tiny 2D barcodes through a lens that defocuses the images. Even though these images appear out of focus to the naked eye, when your camera lens focuses to infinity the tiny 2D barcodes can be read. The visual demo in the video below helps conceptualize how the technology works. Because the system is able to hold so many 2D barcodes in a such small space, a Bokode can store thousands of bits of data. There's enough storage space on a Bokode that it can both identify what you are buying at the grocery store and display the entire nutritional facts label. The Internet of Things, (Wikipedia). Refers to uniquely identifiable objects (things) and their virtual representations in an Internet-like structure. The term Internet of Things was first used by Kevin Ashton in 1999. The concept of the Internet of Things first became popular through the Auto-ID Center and related market analysts publications. Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is often seen as a prerequisite for the Internet of Things. If all objects of daily life were equipped with radio tags, they could be identified and inventoried by computers. However, unique identification of things may be achieved through other means such as barcodes or 2D-codes as well. With all objects in the world equipped with minuscule identifying devices, daily life on Earth would undergo a transformation. Companies would not run out of stock or waste products, as involved parties would know which products are required and consumed. Mislaid and stolen items would be easily tracked and located, as would the people who use them. Your ability to interact with objects could be altered remotely based on your current status and existing user agreements. Also see Mobile Phone App's Links
Internet of Things, (IoT). There’s a lot of buzz about the “Internet of Things” (IoT) lately, and for good reason. Ericsson CEO Hans Vestberg estimates 50 billion devices will be connected to the Web by 2020 Taking The World With You Driving Moble Boardband (PDF format). To put this number in perspective, right now there are about 1.5 billion Web-connected PCs and fewer than 1 billion Web-connected phones—50 billion is about seven devices for every human being on the planet! Market research firm IDC in turn estimates that more than 16 billion devices will be connected to the Internet by 2015
